From Sleeper to Stars
A Highland Adventure Through Time, Landscape and Stillness
Leave the chaos of London behind as you board the Caledonian Sleeper, a train not just of travel but of transition. As the city fades and the Highlands rise to meet you, your journey begins in stillness. You’ll wake in Carrbridge, greeted by soft Highland light and a sense of calm and by your local guide for the morning. Disembarking from the train, you’ll step straight into nature with a gentle, immersive conservation walk led by an expert in the surrounding wilds. Learn the language of the forest. Track wildlife signs. Capture the quiet beauty of Scotland through your lens — or simply your eyes — as you move through ancient pines and timeless stories. By late morning, your Land Rover Defender awaits. You’ll be driven through Highland roads to your next home: Boath House or Boath Cabin — where art, nature, and architecture blend in quiet elegance.
Take the time to slow down. A warm welcome, a fireside moment, and a peaceful night prepare you for the adventure ahead. Next morning, you’ll return to the tracks, boarding the scenic train north through Sutherland — a railway carved through wilderness, past lochs, moors, and wide northern skies. Disembark at Thurso, where the sea meets solitude.
After briefly exploring the town, your journey continues by Land Rover into the wild, remote beauty of Scotland’s north. Following a picnic lunch in the open air, you’ll settle into your wild camping spot for the night — a secluded location under big skies with a rooftop tent as your shelter. As the fire crackles and the stars emerge, this is your moment to breathe, pause, and reconnect with something elemental. The following day, refreshed by silence and wild air, you’ll head back to Boath, where the comforts of home and hearth await. A Highland whisky tasting will ease you into the day, followed by a private tour of Johnstons of Elgin, where Scottish craft and heritage live in every thread. In the evening, board the southbound Caledonian Sleeper — your final act of travel — carrying memories of vast skies, wild land, and moments that moved slowly but deeply.
